Perfecting the art of "sign-singing," the young people of the non-profit Hands in Harmony use choreographed sign language to speak to the hearing impaired, to enhance the sound presentation for the hearing, and as a vehicle to reach all audiences with their message.

By combining music and sign with prerecorded sound tracks and dance, Hands in Harmony creates a total entertainment package that brings a unique treat to audiences of all ages. These young people, ages 4 to 19, are required to attain a level of sign language proficiency before ever appearing on stage. Vocabulary building is a part of the weekly group rehearsal.

Averaging almost 100 appearance a year, Hands in Harmony presents shows, workshops, full-length productions, specialty programs and services in sound and sign, as it serves conventions, schools, clubs, churches, community organizations, fraternal organizations, and individuals.

The wide variety of outreach includes themes for Christmas, patriotic, Western, Very Special Arts, drug awareness and 50's programs. A deaf ministry arm, Hands in Faith, provides entire church services or special programs.

As winners of the Governor's Arts Award, which recognizes excellence in and outstanding service to the arts and culture in Wyoming, and development of Wyoming's artistic resources, the young people travel with the designation of Goodwill Ambassadors of Wyoming, as well as Cheyenne, sharing their message across the country.
